ALL A DREAM FOR DAVIES

- BY ALEX BYWATER

Wales v Italy Cardiff, tomorrow, 3pm

JAMES DAVIES thought his big chance with Wales would never come.

But the man known as ‘Cubby Boi’ is now determined to star for Warren Gatland’s side.

Davies – brother of Wales and Lions star Jonathan – wins his first cap against Italy tomorrow.

“I feel like I have played consistently for the Scarlets but I have not been getting a chance so you do think it’s never going to happen,” said the 27-year-old flanker (above). “But I am here now and I want to take it with both hands.”

Davies’ all-action style saw him win a silver medal with Team GB in Rugby Sevens at the Rio Olympics. Since then he has been one of the most consistent performers in Welsh rugby. Now he finally gets his chance on the big stage. “I didn’t grow up dreaming about the Olympics,” he said. “Your dream is to play for Wales and on Sunday I achieve that dream.”
