‘WE CAN BEAT TOUR BLUES’
Ireland v Scotland Dublin, 2.15pm
JOHN BARCLAY says Brian O’Driscoll was spot on by claiming Scotland cannot be considered genuine Six Nations title contenders until they find a cure for their travel sickness.
But the Dark Blues skipper (above) says they can make the Aviva Stadium home from home if they replicate their stunning England performance.
Scotland have won just two games outside of Edinburgh and Rome since the tournament’s expansion in 2000.
But while Townsend’s outfit notched up top wins over France and the Auld Enemy at Murrayfield last month, O’Driscoll said the Scots’ will not get the respect of real challengers until they fix their woeful away record.
“Until they do that, they’ll be seen as a home team,” said the former British and Irish Lion.
Barclay said: “That is fair comment. We had a good win in Australia in the summer but you need to win away to be successful in this tournament.”
