IS backer ‘kill Shias’ tweet

AN Islamic State supporter tweeted “death to Shias” and said followers of the branch of Islam should be burnt alive.

Mohammed Zahir Khan, 40, also wrote: “Welcome to the year of fear” and shared an IS publication.

Khan, of Sunderland, admitted encouraging terror, disseminating a terror publication and stirring religious hate.

Adjourning the case till May, the Newcastle crown court judge said jail was “pretty much inevitable”.
