Don’t let my killer dad out
Daughter of Telford abuse girl’s plea
THE daughter of a Telford child sex victim has told how she wants her father to stay in jail until he apologises for abusing and murdering her mother.
Tasnim Lowe, 18, whose mum Lucy was killed in a house fire started by her dad Azhar Ali Mehmood, said: “He took away a whole lifetime with my mum.
“He shouldn’t be let out until he has said sorry for what he did.”
Lucy was 14 when she had Tasnim by Mehmood, who was 10 years her senior. She was 16 and pregnant with her second child when she was killed in the arson attack, along with her mum Eileen, 49, and sister Sarah, 17.
Tasnim, 15 months old, was found under a tree in the garden.
She met her father in prison after she turned 16, and said: “It wasn’t a good experience.
TRUTH
“A week before, he sent me a 16-page letter saying he didn’t do it. He accused my grandad of setting fire to the house.
“I thought maybe he might tell me the truth. He just denied it.
“He has shown no remorse. What he has done makes me frightened of him.”
Lucy was among up to 1,000 children groomed for sex in the Shropshire town during a fourdecade epidemic exposed by the Sunday Mirror at the weekend.
Mehmood was never investigated for child sex crimes, and Tasnim slammed authorities for failing to probe the abuse Lucy suffered. She said: “What was happening to my mum should have set alarm bells ringing.”
Business admin officer Tasnim believes grooming is still rife in her home town. She said: “I know girls who have been groomed. I know it goes on in Telford.
“Social services and police need to take it more seriously what the girls are saying.” Mehmood was jailed for life for the murders, but will soon be eligible for parole.
Tasnim added: “He’s never shown remorse and that’s what is stopping him from getting out.” PRESSURE Amber Rudd
