WATTS IS SWITCHED ON TO POWER UP THE JUNGLE
CASTLEFORD TIGERS are set to confirm the capture of Hull FC’s Liam Watts with immediate effect.
The experienced prop is suspended having picked up his fourth red card within the last year in the recent win against Warrington. But that has not put off the Tigers, who have beaten ambitious Toronto Wolfpack to the 27-yearold’s signature after agreeing a significant fee.
The Black and Whites had been open to offers for Watts, with the Wolfpack keen to add to their capture of Salford full-back Gareth O’Brien (below). But the Tigers won the race to complete the first signing since the appointment of Jon Wells as new director of rugby. Watts is set to link up with Daryl Powell’s squad this week, although he still has two matches of his suspension to serve. Hull lost patience with Watts over a number of on and off-field offences, not just the red card for a headbutt on Wolves’ prop Dom Crosby which coach Lee Radford labelled “pathetic.”
His Tigers debut could come in the derby with Wakefield Trinity on March 29.
