ARSENAL GUNNING FOR REVENGE ON LEADERS CITY

- BY JOHN CROSS

ARSENAL have a chance for revenge over Manchester City tonight when the two clubs’ ladies square up in the Continental Cup final.

But just like the men when they met in the League Cup final two weeks ago, City are ahead of Arsenal in the league and favourites to retain their trophy at Wycombe.

Arsenal boss Joe Montemurro took over last November and the Aussie is trying to get his club back to the top of the women’s game in the face of strong competition from City and Women’s Super League leaders Chelsea.

But that is where the similarities end, something Montemurro is trying to address to help the women’s game gain more of a level footing with their Premier League counterparts.

He said: “The disparity of wages and wage structures is huge. I don’t understand why there is this huge gap. They should be treated equally.”
