Take it as Fred that United will rival City

MANCHESTER UNITED are hoping to hijack Manchester City’s move for Fred.

City held talks with Shakhtar Donetsk over their Brazil midfielder (above), 25, in January and a £70million fee was quoted. Fred remains a target for the champions elect, but United are also keen.

Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palkin said: “Fred isn’t already at Manchester City, but he will surely leave in June. If not to City, then Manchester United.”
