FOOT ON THE GAS

-

FOOTPAD wasn’t footperfect but still motored to a stirring victory.

The Willie Mullinstrained 5-6 favourite (above) overcame a blunder at the sixth of 13 fences to collar old rival Petit Mouchoir and surge clear to beat Brain Power by 14 lengths.

“I can’t say I was too confident when we landed at the back of the first down the back, but he was brilliant,” said Ruby Walsh, who sat out nearly four months of the season with a broken leg.

“It’s been a long old winter but this makes it worth it. He has brains, pace and stamina.”
