A TODDLER saved her heavily pregnant mum when she collapsed by calling for help on FaceTime.

Two-year-old Myah Powell was the only other person at home when KatieMarie Porter passed out in her bedroom.

But the youngster, who had seen her mother use FaceTime on her phone, opened the video-call app and shouted to her gran: “Mummy is on the floor.”

Katie-Marie, 27, said: “It is amazing she thought to call for help.

“As far as I am concerned, she saved me and the baby. Had I hit my head or landed on my stomach it could have been much worse, but Myah wasn’t to know that.”

The toddler’s father Kirk Powell had been out when he received a call from his mother-in-law to say that KatieMarie had fallen ill.

Thanks to quick-thinking Myah, he was able to get back to their home in Bettws, Newport, to help his partner.

Katie-Marie said: “I have been having blackouts during my pregnancy.

“My iron and blood counts are very low, and doctors believe I may have anaemia. On Monday, my partner Kirk was out shopping when my head started to spin.”

Kirk went on: “Myah has learnt how to FaceTime her gran by watching us.

“She had called her grandmother on the app and was shouting that mummy was on the floor. I then had a phone call from my mother-in-law.

“I rushed home and took her straight to the hospital. She was kept in for three days to check on the baby.” Katie-Marie has since been given the all-clear and is now encouraging other parents to train their children to use mobile phone apps in case of an emergency.

The mum added: “It might save someone else in the future.”
