ENGLAND COACH JONES FORCED TO APOLOGISE AFTER SAYING THE IRISH ARE ‘SCUMMY’ AND ‘WALES IS A LITTLE S**T PLACE’
EDDIE JONES has been forced to apologise for astonishing insults aimed at Ireland and Wales.
Three days before England face Grand Slamchasing Ireland at Twickenham, a video emerged of Jones branding the Irish “scummy”.
The footage also appears to show the Red Rose boss describing Wales as “a little s**t place”. The Aussie said:
“We’ve played 23 Tests. We’ve only lost one Test to the scummy Irish. I’m still dirty about that game. But we’ll get that back, don’t worry. We’ve got them next year at home.”
He went on: “Wales… who knows Wales? It’s this little s**t place that has got three million people.”
The footage is believed to be from a talk on leadership he gave last year.
“I apologise unreservedly for any offence caused,” said Jones last night. “I shouldn’t have said what I did.”
The RFU insist Jones’ apology is the end of the matter.
