MESSI GOES NUTS

Barca magician nutmegs Courtois TWICE to send brave Blues out of Europe

LIONEL MESSI created more Champions League history last night after TWICE nutmegging Thibaut Courtois.

Barcelona superstar Messi scored twice to reach the 100-goal landmark, putting both his strikes through the legs of the Chelsea keeper. Messi set his own personal best as his opening goal, after just 2min 8sec,

FROM BACK PAGE was the fastest he has ever scored for club or country. Chelsea fought bravely and the 3-0 final score was harsh on them but that is little consolation for manager Antonio Conte, now facing the end of his reign at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Messi’s masterclass began with a brilliant finish past Courtois from an impossible angle and his part in Barcelona’s second was equally impressive as his brilliant pass set up Ousmane Dembele to smash home.

The Argentina star grabbed his second after 63 minutes with another nutmeg as he chalked up his ton of goals in just 123 Champions League appearances.

Chelsea could not live with Messi and now Liverpool and Manchester City will be anxious to avoid Barcelona in tomorrow’s quarter-final draw. Chelsea wing-back Marcos Alonso said: “We competed well in both games but they have Messi.”
