Risking a doze of something nasty

-

MOST Brits sleep in filthy bedding full of germs, crumbs and pet hair, a survey found.

Nearly 70% did not change bed sheets weekly, with more than two-thirds not realising dirty bedding can cause allergic reactions, illnesses and spread viruses.

Almost 60% allow pets on beds with more than 25% letting animals sleep with them every night. More than half made matters worse by snacking in bed.

The poll for bed seller Dreams also found 22% had not renewed their mattress after the recommended eight years. Lisa Bond, of Dreams, said: “Whilst it’s important to wash bedding weekly at 60 degrees to kill bacteria which can grow, there is still a great deal of dirt which gets embedded in the mattress.”
