Speeders’ toll on our roads

SPEEDING drivers hurt 20,000 people a year, research has found.

Injuries were suffered in 62,901 collisions caused by speeding from 2012 to 2016.

Nearly 15,000 incidents have been classed as serious, causing 17,636 serious injuries or deaths.

Rob Miles, of Direct Line Insurance, which studied official data, said: “It is vital people modify driving for road type and conditions.”
