YOUR SHOUT

Fiona, recently the Mirror reported that House of Fraser sales fell by 2.9% in the six weeks prior to Christmas. I’m not surprised! There’s absolutely nothing in terms of clothing for mature women.

The Carlisle branch is a big open space where Eastex, Windsmoor, etc, used to be.

Everything else is high fashion for young women, or occasion wear. Do young folks shop in House of Fraser? Does the fashion industry not realise there’s a whole generation of women who can’t find anything to wear?

If you can use any influence to try and change this situation, Fiona, I’m sure many of us would be eternally grateful! Joan Warwick, via e-mail FP: HofF, M&S, Debenhams etc, Joan, are definitely missing a trick. Young women tend to buy their clothes in outlets such as H&M, Topshop etc, rather than large general stores. Department store sales are falling. Catering to their core shoppers (over-50s), is surely the way to go. Fiona, what is happening to our once proud land? Frequent murders, stabbings, muggings, drugs, anti-social and badly behaved kids, litter everywhere, dog dirt left on our pavements, 35% of the country obese, I could go on and on.

I am pleased I am in the autumn of my years as I just despair at how this country will be in a few years’ time. Love your column. David, Hull

Fiona, it’s a pity you focused on the Nicola Adams Barbie doll’s limbs and not the hairstyle, kit and boxing gloves. Isn’t it good a manufacturer is offering up a real alternative image for young girls? Colin Eastwood, via e-mail FP: Nicola’s got a great, healthy looking body. The doll’s painfully thin. That’s why, Colin.
