COOK CLASHED WITH PEP BUT WILL GIVE SPARKY A SWERVE
WIGAN boss Paul Cook clashed with Pep Guardiola in the last round but doesn’t fancy taking on Mark Hughes.
Cook had a row with Guardiola (right) in the tunnel at half-time over Fabian Delph’s dismissal in Wigan’s giantkilling of Manchester City in the previous round. But Cook joked he would not want to take on the new Southampton boss, 54.
“I’m not fighting Mark Hughes, no chance!” he laughed. “One thing from our point of view and Man City’s, is no one knew the camera was in the tunnel. I don’t think I was doing a lot wrong.
“Managers want to win, I want to protect my players, Pep wanted to protect his. Mark Hughes will be no different.” Tomorrow’s quarter-final will take the Latics’ earnings from their Cup run to just over £1million, but Cook added: “For a League One side to get to the semi-final would be a very good achievement.”
