Pills probe in care homes

AROUND 180,000 care home residents will have their intake of medication checked amid fears they are on too many pills.

Roughly 240 pharmacy staff will be deployed in the NHS England scheme.

The health body’s chief executive Simon Stevens said: “The policy of ‘a pill for every ill’ is often causing frail older people more health problems than it is solving.”
