Ocean plastic ‘could treble’

THE amount of plastic in the ocean is set to treble in a decade without urgent action, a study warns.

Other concerns include rising sea levels, warming waters and chemical pollution, the Foresight Future of the Sea Report said.

Scientists warned of the danger of the oceans being “out of sight, out of mind”, but highlighted the potential of an “ocean economy” such as offshore wind.
