‘He begged Queen to end Camilla snub’

-

THE Queen refused to have anything to do with Camilla Parker-Bowles during the years before she married Prince Charles, it is claimed.

Even when he begged his mother to change her attitude, the Queen allegedly refused – saying she wanted nothing to do with that “wicked woman”.

Tom Bower, author of The Rebel Prince, claims the conversation took place in the summer of 1998, only months after the death of Diana.

According to Mr Bower, Charles challenged his mum over her hostility at Balmoral.

He writes: “But she’d had several martinis and replied she would not condone his adultery, nor forgive Camilla for not leaving Charles alone to allow his marriage to recover.”

Charles was “distraught”, he claims. And at their wedding in April 2005, the Queen did not speak to her or refer to her by name, Mr Bower alleges.

The Queen and Prince Philip were not at the civil ceremony and allegedly rejected his plan for a big dinner at Windsor Castle, saying it should be a “modest

celebration”.
