Morata in strop over Spain snub
Salah, Mane and Firmino are winning the threedom of the city
CHELSEA striker Alvaro Morata is upset at being snubbed by Spain for the final international break before the World Cup.
Morata has endured a frustrating spell in England. The Stamford Bridge hit-man has failed to score in the Premier League in 2018 and has been left on the bench for the last three league outings.
And his Chelsea teammate Marcos Alonso revealed he did not take the news of his omission well. Alonso, who has received his first international call-up at the age of 27, was speaking ahead of Spain’s fixtures against Germany and Argentina.
Alonso said: “Obviously Alvaro wasn’t happy. He’s had a couple of difficult months because of a back problem but he’s now 100 per cent. He’s very important and I hope he is in the World Cup.” On his own call-up, Alonso said: “Whether it’s been delayed or not, the important thing is that I’m here.”
The Blues wing-back played under Spain boss Julen Lopetegui early in his career while with Real Madrid Castilla, the club’s reserve team, and is relishing their reunion.
“The coach knows me well,” he said.”
