7,500 MILES IN 17 LONG HOURS ... THAT’S HOW FAR BALE HAD TO TRAVEL TO PLAY FOR WALES

-

GARETH BALE is in line to play for Wales in China tomorrow in Ryan Giggs’s first game in charge.

Bale trained with Giggs’s China Cup squad in Nanning yesterday just two hours after a marathon 7,500-mile trip from Madrid.

The £85million superstar is now expected to win his 69th cap against hosts China.

It is a hectic schedule for Bale, who scored his 12th goal of the season as a sub in Real’s 6-3 La Liga victory over Girona on Sunday.

The Bernabeu star then took a private jet to Luton Airport before spending the night in London. He was at Heathrow early on Monday morning to board a 10.5 hour flight to Guangzhou. Bale then had another four hours in transit before taking another flight to Nanning in southern China, the final destination of his marathon trek (arriving, right).

He did not arrive at the team hotel until 1pm local time but just over two hours later was at Wales’s first training session at the Guangxi Sports Center.

His presence is a major boost to rookie boss Giggs and to the four-team China Cup. The FAW receive around £1million for playing in the tournament with the Czech Republic and Uruguay.
