Still stuck with Boris

WHATEVER else Vladimir Putin is, and Russia’s authoritarian leader is many things, he isn’t Adolf Hitler.

Yes, Putin may exploit this summer’s football World Cup but it’s stupid for Boris Johnson to bracket him with the Nazi mass exterminator, who hosted the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

We need a Foreign Secretary who is a skilled statesman, respected in the world’s capitals for a sharp mind and ability to unveil solutions to potentially catastrophic conflicts. Instead, we’re lumbered with Boris Johnson.

The less he says, the more people might think he isn’t a liability. But keeping his mouth shut just isn’t the Conservative buffoon’s way.

Putin is a threat to what international stability survives, with the attempted assassination and poisoning of an MI6 double agent a provocation that demands an effective response.

Sadly, Johnson is way out of his depth. Putin will be laughing at him and us.
