Court staff saved judge in cardiac arrest during trial
A JUDGE had a cardiac arrest in the middle of a criminal trial – and was saved by a policeman and court staff.
David Wynn Morgan collapsed in his chair and stopped breathing.
Two ushers started CPR in court before a police officer took over the chest compressions.
The judge, in his 60s, was revived at Cardiff crown court before being taken to hospital last April. His rescuers – Janet Page, Angela Painter, and Detective Constable Christopher Jayne – received a Chief Constable’s Commendation. Judge Morgan, who was too ill to attend the Gwent police ceremony, wrote: “I want to thank all of them. I and my family owe them a profound debt. “They are three extraordinary people. My feelings will never diminish as long as I live out the chance to enjoy it.”
