CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN insists he wants to stay at Tottenham and focus on trying to win trophies with Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Spurs’ brilliant playmaker, 26, has been on the radar of Europe’s biggest clubs since he was a teenager.

And Eriksen’s sparkling form this season had reignited interest from Barcelona – one of the clubs he had a trial with, before joining Ajax aged 16.

But the Denmark star, who is in line for a new deal at Spurs, said: “To be honest, I do not think about going elsewhere. You play football in the present, but you also have dreams. Dreams are one thing, but they are only realistic when an offer is on the table.

“Right now, most people are very happy at Tottenham – and I am, too.”

Spurs haven’t won a trophy since the 2008 League Cup and came agonisingly close to ending their silverware drought in the last two seasons in the league.

Their only hope of a trophy this year is in the FA Cup and Eriksen inspired Spurs to the semi-finals – where they will face Manchester United – with two goals in their victory at Swansea last Saturday. “All footballers would like to win the Premier League or the Champions League or FA Cup,” he added. “Most people just want to win some trophies. “You can ask Kasper Schmeichel (above) how he felt after winning the Premier League with Leicester. I think it was a good feeling.

“We have been close to it in the last couple of seasons, but this season we have not been there. Nevertheless, we have still had an absolutely positive season so far.

“And, yes, I can win trophies with Spurs, if you think where Tottenham was when I arrived to where we are now.

“People now look at us as title candidates whereas previously we had to fight to get into the top four or even the top six.

“We may have to build and build to become capable of winning a trophy, but we are on the right track.”
