JOSE GETS REAL WITH VARANE BID

MANCHESTER UNITED are weighing up a summer move for Real Madrid’s £50million defender Raphael Varane. Jose Mourinho will bolster his central defence, with the France international (left), 24, among the main targets on his wish list. Former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson went in for Varane in 2011, before he opted to join Real, with the Reds eventually signing Phil Jones from Blackburn. Mourinho tried to sign Varane in 2014 during his second spell at Chelsea, but was thwarted. Now United sources indicate a fresh bid for Varane, who last year agreed a deal to stay at Real until 2022, is on the cards.
