Jorginho, 26, holds a dual passport and has three Azzurri caps.

If it comes down to a straight fight between United, Arsenal and Liverpool, Klopp’s club will be favourites. Jorginho has noted the success of Brazilians Lucas, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino at Anfield.

German international Can’s contract expires in June. He has rejected all offers of a new deal and a return to Bayern Munich is on the cards.

Liverpool have also been looking at Nice’s Jean Michael Seri and Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester as Can’s replacement.
