Move to Dorset

-

Location, location, location... geography can have a profound effect on your health. People living in Dorset are more likely to live to 75 than anyone else in the country, with 78% of men and 86% of women reaching that ripe old age. Mancunians, however, have the worst lot, with only 52% of men reaching 75.

And if you fancy heading further than the South West, perhaps you should consider leaving our obesity-plagued island for one of a number of more healthy options.

Research in 2007 by Men’s Health magazine found the Netherlands to be the fittest country, Spain the least stressful and Portugal to have the best diet. Meanwhile, Japan seems to be combining the best of all three – it has had the highest average life expectancy of any major country (currently at 82 years) for decades.
