GOT A TASTE FOR BREXIT

-

The boss of booze giant Diageo says he is now “glass half full about Brexit”. Ivan Menezes was among the top business leaders who called for Britain to remain in the EU ahead of the 2016 referendum. But he has changed his tune, highlighting its up sides. He said at an event in London: “We come at Brexit with a view of looking for the opportunities.” Diageo, the world’s biggest spirits maker, owns everything from Johnnie Walker whisky and Smirnoff vodka to Tanqueray gin and Guinness. It is the biggest contributor to the UK’s balance in trade and goods. Ahead of the Brexit vote Menezes warned of economic dangers if the UK went it alone. He said at the time: “I believe very strongly that the UK’s membership of the European Union has a pivotal role to play in the future.”
