Railing against train foodisms
Anyone who’s availed themselves of train food will know of its considerable shortcomings. I had to laugh then when travelling with GWR on Monday to see amongst its offerings “locally sourced porridge”.
Ha! I was on the 9.06 from London Paddington to Reading, so where was it sourced from – the Sainsbury’s on the station concourse?
And what about the “locally baked ‘Railway’ fruit cake”? Was Delia Smith passenger-side handing out just-baked goods from a portable kitchen?
We have no choice when choosing which train company we travel with, but none of us are fooled by overpriced crap dressed up as home-made fare.
GWR, BTW, is the company that recently took a homeless man to court for avoiding a £1.50 fare. His £645 fine was definitely “locally sourced”.
