One more race for Cue Card

-

CUE CARD could yet have one more race before going into wellearned retirement, says the 12-year-old’s trainer Colin Tizzard.

Jump racing’s most popular horse, seeking a third Cheltenham Festival triumph, looked to have run for the last time when pulled up in the Ryanair Chase 11 days ago.

But Tizzard (left) yesterday raised the possibility of an emotional swansong at Aintree or Sandown next month.

“The horse is absolutely fine and he’s not retired,” said the Gold Cup-winning handler, who saddled Cue Card to land Aintree’s Betway Bowl — run on 12 April this year — in 2016 before finishing runner-up last year.

“We were going to run him until the end of the season and nothing has changed.”

MASTER THE WORLD, handed victory in last month’s Winter Derby by the Lingfield stewards, is Coral’s 100-30 favourite for the Easter Classic on the Surrey track’s All-Weather Championships card on Friday.

Mr Owen, first past the post in the Group 3 event before being demoted to second, is next best at 7-2.
