BRUISING BOUT FOR BROWNE
LUCAS BROWNE was left battered and bruised after Saturday night’s defeat to Londoner Dillian Whyte.
The Australian suffered a brutal knockout in the sixth round which left him unconscious.
Browne was tended to by medics and had oxygen (above) before walking out of the ring to applause from the pro-Whyte crowd at the O2 Arena in London.
It marked a bad night for the 38-year-old who had a deep cut above his left eye in the second round and struggled for vision.
He said: “It wasn’t my night and massive respect to @DillianWhyte for his performance. My eye was giving me trouble from the second and you can’t protect from what you can’t see. I’m all good and I will be back.”
Whyte called out WBC champion Deontay Wilder after catapulting himself into world-title contention with his 23rd win from 24 pro fights. He said: “Deontay Wilder, where you at? June – where you at, Wilder?
“Let’s go! I’m ready. No more excuses.”
