Football boss loved his ski crash course

- BY STEPHEN WHITE

FORMER Scotland manager Gordon Strachan landed his wife in hospital after a bungled attempt to take up skiing.

Strachan, 61, said Lesley crashed into him after he lost control and ended up “lying in the middle of the slope” in an Alps resort.

He said: “Everything you saw at the Winter Olympics I did backwards. I went down the hill like a maniac. My wife injured herself badly and I had to take her to hospital. She took me out with the skis.”

The ex-Aberdeen and Leeds Utd player, who was sacked as Scotland boss last year, said he had never been skiing before but was “trying things out”.

He said: “I loved it but I was in agony, I thought it was fantastic. I’ve never laughed so much.”
