Doonican pad on sale at £2.7m
IRISH crooner Val Doonican’s former home is on sale at £2.7million.
The seven-bedroom property was where the TV star – famed for his multicoloured jumpers and performing in a rocking chair – brought up his two daughters with wife Lynn.
The house, called Ardmore, also has extensive gardens and a swimming pool.
The singer’s Saturday night TV variety shows in the 1960s and 70s pulled in audiences of up to 19 million.
He had hits including Paddy McGinty’s Goat, Walk Tall and The Special Years, and one of his albums knocked The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper off the No1 spot.
Doonican sold the house in Beaconsfield, Bucks, in 1988. He died in 2015 aged 88 and Lynn died the following year. They were married for 54 years.
