Keep up to date with the Jones’s

ITV has ordered a drama based on Henry Fielding’s 1749 novel Tom Jones, adapted by Gwyneth Jones with the #MeToo generation in mind.

Gwyneth says: “We are all hyper alert to issues of consent and sex equality now, but Henry Fielding was there before us.

“Almost 300 years ago, he was writing men and women with equal abilities in love and sexual desire. His moral compass was clear, compassionate and humorous.”

Executive producer Damien Timmer, of Mammoth Screen, says: “Popular culture has Tom Jones down as a womanising rogue, but Fielding’s original is so much more complex than that.”
