Helium link to 509 fatalities

HELIUM gas was linked to 509 deaths between 2001 and 2016, figures show.

The Office for National Statistics said helium was linked to just two deaths in 2001, peaking at 82 in 2014, before falling to 69 in 2016.

Suicide, substance abuse and accidents are counted in the figures.
