Dom still hopes for Lions call

DOMINIC CALVERT-LEWIN wants more game time at Everton to earn an England chance.

The Toffees striker was tipped for a senior Three Lions call-up for the Holland and Italy friendlies.

Instead, he is part of Aidy Boothroyd’s Under-21s trying to qualify for the Euros against Ukraine in his home town of Sheffield.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce has preferred experience up front of late and Calvert-Lewin said: “I know there was speculatio­n about the seniors, but I need to be scoring goals and affecting games.

“Obviously, in the second half of the season, I’ve perhaps not played as much as I would have liked.

“It’s my dream to play for England at senior level. I do believe I’m ready. I back myself. I believe in my ability.
