ROBBO KOP
Reds fans love handy Andy as much as Salah
MO SALAH may possess Liverpool’s record-breaking left foot, but another leftie has also won the hearts of Reds fans this season.
In a team where there is so much emphasis on attack, a left-back may not be the obvious choice for a true fans’ favourite.
But since grabbing his chance at Anfield, Andrew Robertson has become precisely that.
So much in fact, that the Kop sings about him almost as much as they do Salah, who has scored more goals with his left foot in a Premier League season than any other player in history.
For Robertson, 24, considering the achievements of his brilliant team-mate, that is something really special.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling to have that relationship with the fans,” said Scotland’s rising star.
“To hear them singing your name, it gives you a wee bit of a lift. I feel like they have taken to me and I’ve taken to them quite quickly. They know that even though I might not have the best of games I always leave everything out there.
“I think Liverpool fans maybe enjoy seeing that work-rate.
“As a team we are all working incredibly hard and that’s enabling us to produce performances the fans can enjoy.”
Robertson struggled to impose himself at his new club when he arrived for an £8million fee from relegated Hull in the summer, but since grabbing his chance when first-choice Alberto Moreno was injured in November, he has made that fee look an absolute steal.
His form has not only made him a fans’ favourite – as much for his aggressive defending as his brilliant delivery going forward – but thrown him into the limelight as the future of the Scotland team.
