Shaw row has Barca looking at Nou deal

Boss backs star man despite lacklustre display

- BY JAMES NURSEY

BARCELONA are considering a move for Luke Shaw following his bust-up with Jose Mourinho.

The Spanish giants are preparing to go in the market this summer for a new left-back.

Shaw (above) is on their radar as he wants to quit Old Trafford, where he feels Manchester United boss Mourinho is picking on him.

He is refusing to sign a new contract and will have just 12 months left on his deal this summer.

Shaw, 22, who has seven England caps, is aware the La Liga leaders are considering a summer bid.

Barca are on course to win the top flight again in Spain and are into the Champions League quarter-finals. Their regular

RYAN GIGGS defended Gareth Bale after he was overshadowed by Edinson Cavani as Uruguay won the China Cup.

FROM BACK PAGE left-back is Spain international Jordi Alba, who has two years left on his Nou Camp contract.

But Shaw could compete for the role in place of France star Lucas Digne, who has only made 13 starts this term after joining in a £14million switch from Paris Saint-Germain in 2016 on a five-year contract.

Barca have been linked with David Alaba from Bayern Munich but that would be expensive. He is also fancied by Real Madrid.

Barca have spent £142m on Philippe Coutinho and £135m on Ousmane Dembele and could need future cash for Antoine Griezmann.

The situation has fuelled hopes Shaw could yet bring about a dream ending to his increasingly sour United move. The spat has also alerted London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.
