May hints at early boost to NHS funds
THERESA May has hinted at an NHS cash injection this year but called a reported £4billion a year increase “speculation”.
The Prime Minister told MPs she would present a “multi-year funding settlement” before a spending review due next spring.
She told the Commons Liaison Committee: “I suggest we can’t afford to wait until next Easter. In the 70th anniversary of the NHS, we need an answer.”
NHS England chief Simon Stevens said: “A long-term plan is timely and significant”.
