Life for terror ‘revenge’ driver
A MAN has been jailed for life after twice running over a Muslim woman as “revenge” for terrorist attacks in the UK.
Paul Moore, 21, was seen laughing as he mowed down Zaynab Hussein. He also tried to run over a girl of 12, who escaped injury.
Moore, of Western Park, Leicester, was yesterday jailed for a minimum 20 years.
He was convicted earlier this month of attempted murder, attempted GBH and dangerous driving. Mr Justice Soole said at Nottingham crown court: “Your intention to kill was underlined by your wicked decision to return for a second assault.”
In a victim impact statement Ms Hussein, 47, bed-bound since the September attack, said: “I feel I have lost my independence.”
Steve Newcombe, defending, said there was “nothing in his background” to suggest Moore had held a grudge against Muslims.
