CONFIDENT? ...PARK THAT THOUGHT JOE

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

ANTHONY JOSHUA’S trainer has warned Joseph Parker that nothing can prepare him for what he will face on Saturday night.

Rob McCracken noted Parker’s confident demeanour at yesterday’s final head-to-head and claimed the undefeated WBO champ is in for a shock.

“He’s unbeaten so he doesn’t think he can lose,” said McCracken (below). “But being fast, being calm and relaxed, doesn’t prepare you for getting into the ring with AJ.

“It’s not just the size of him – he hits you and you don’t know why you are getting hit.

“Wladimir Klitschko was at the highest level yet you saw how he finished that fight. AJ is in great shape. He’s looking forward to the fight and he sees it as another step up the ladder to becoming the undisputed champion.”

Joshua did not impress in his last fight against Carlos Takam but McCracken says they have made changes to ensure he is in peak condition. “He’s eating a little bit less and he’s sleeping better,” he said. “Kubrat Pulev pulling out 10 or 12 days before the fight was difficult and he probably sat around an hour or two longer than he would have done normally.

“But he’s a fighter who learns all the time and he’s addressed those issues. Parker is a good fighter and AJ has respected him by preparing well – you will see AJ performing at his very best on Saturday night.”
