NEVER AGAIN
Skipper Noble’s plea to fans: No repeat of shameful scenes ...we need you right behind us for survival battle ahead
MARK NOBLE has appealed for West Ham fans to behave and unite behind his side in Saturday’s relegation clash with Southampton.
The last game at the London Stadium was marred by pitch invasions and protests as supporters vented their anger against the Hammers board as David Moyes’ side lost 3-0 to Burnley.
Noble has written an open letter to fans, describing it as “one of his toughest days” at the club.
He added: “I never want to see scenes like that again. None of us do.
“I desperately want us to do well and for everyone to be happy, players and fans, but that day was one which none of us can look back on with any pride.”
The team are just one place above the drop zone and the club captain added: “We need everyone to be together and to be behind the team, because positive vibes really do inspire the players on the pitch.
“On the flip side, negativity can undoubtedly affect players’ are feeling, but I would ask you to channel your passion to get behind the team, help us get through the season with our Premier League status intact.
“We need the London Stadium to be buzzing for our five remaining home games, so please unite behind the lads and give us the best possible chance to deliver the results we need.”
West Ham will erect a security barrier near the directors’ box for Saturday’s game after fans tried to storm it during the Burnley match.
