Hero Callum honoured at Pride awards
UNSUNG heroes were put in the spotlight at the Pride of the North East Awards last night.
Callum Lane-Tingle, nine, was one of the stars at Newcastle Civic Centre.
The crowd heard how he raised £18,000 for Cancer Research after dad Andy was diagnosed last year.
Andy, 48, of Stockton-onTees, said: “The biggest thing that’s keeping me going is Callum. It’s better than the drugs.”
Lynne Davis, 52 and Cheryl McDonald, 30, got a TSB Community Partner award after raising £130,000 in their charity shops on South Tyneside.
All of the winners go forward to the Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards, in partnership with TSB, which will be screened on ITV in the autumn.
