Arena lesson
THE two-hour delay in deploying firefighters at the Manchester Arena bombing was an astonishing blunder.
Our emergency services, including the NHS, performed miracles that night to save the badly wounded and it will hurt commanders if a flawed plan got in the way.
We can’t turn back the clock and it’s right we celebrate heroics which saved so many.
Yet it’s equally right any valuable lessons from Bob Kerslake’s report are learned.
The last disaster must always prepare us to respond better to the next.
