Illegal immigrant’s 10 fake IDs to claim £60k benefits
AN illegal immigrant swindled £60,000 in benefits using a string of aliases.
Tyler Longman, of Zimbabwe, began by using fake papers to obtain a British passport, enabling him to live where he was not entitled to, a court heard.
Longman arrived 12 years ago and is believed to have used at least 10 fake IDs from January, 2006, when he began claiming.
He had at least five children to different women, not including his fiancee’s unborn child. He had blamed one mother for getting him a driving licence. Longman, 29, of Ramsgate, Kent, broke down in tears and pleaded guilty to fraud at Canterbury crown court. Jailing him for five years, Judge Simon James said: “Your subterfuge was both sophisticated and prolonged. “Blaming the mother of one of your children is a particularly egregious feature of the case.”
