POP THE PILOT ON

Nissan’s mega seller and company-saving Qashqai is now available with ProPILOT driver assistance on the Tekna and Tekna+ models as a £795 option.

Nissan describes this technology as the first step towards autonomous driving.

You activate the system by pressing a ProPILOT button on the right-hand side of the steering wheel.

Essentially, it’s intelligent cruise control combined with lane keeping.

And it has the added advantage of the ability to manage low speed congestion.

If the car in front of you stops, your Qashqai will stop and then move off again.

The only thing is that if the car stops for more than three seconds you have to touch a button marked Resume.

Prices for a ProPILOT equipped Qashqai kick off at £31,275 for a Tekna dCi 130 Xtronic.
