SKY BET HIT BY £1m FINE
Sky Bet has become the latest gambling firm to be punished for failing to protect problem punters.
The sponsor of England’s football Championship, won by Newcastle United last season, was fined £1million by the Gambling Commission.
It came after hundreds of customers who “self-excluded” themselves from gambling were able to go on betting.
Sky Bet alerted the Commission when it spotted the loophole. Boss Richard Flint said: “This incident showed that we needed to do more.”
Rival Ladbrokes Coral was hit with a £2.3m bill last November for a similar mistake.
