Pain pills put pets in peril
THOUSANDS of dogs and cats were poisoned last year after eating over-thecounter pills such as paracetamol and ibuprofen.
The Veterinary Poisons Information Service said 6,790 pets were poisoned by drugs, and 1,741 by household products.
Ibuprofen was the most common painkiller eaten by pets, with 420 cases, and 401 for paracetamol.
Olivia Anderson-Nathan, who is a PDSA vet, said: “The consequences can be devastating.”
