Nick tries to build bridges
DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles has justified being one of the highest-paid BBC presenters, on £349,000 a year, with these words: “It is essentially a Premier League team paying a striker to score them 20 goals and keep them in the Premiership so that they can get another £100 million.” It’s not though is it Nick? A striker who scores 20 Premier League goals is a very special talent in one of the richest industries on Earth, and could name his salary at most of the world’s top sides because he has such a highly sought-after skill set. Whereas you explain to a camera why builders are doing up the house of a deserving family. You also let members of that family openly display their gratitude for a job that has been effectively funded by taxpaxers. That happens to nurses too. But some of them are so badly paid they have to visit foodbanks. So best to just say “I can’t justify £349,000 a year. I’m just a very jammy sod.”
