YOUR SHOUT
Fiona, l agree wholeheartedly that pain relief for back pain is a must sometimes. I have suffered back pain must of my adult life and although l’m active and a sensible weight, Diazepam, on occasions, has been a life-saver for me. Wendy, via email
Fiona, you described my predicament – I’ve never had excruciating back pain like this before. Like you, I was crying, unable to move. Paracetamol and codeine hardly touched it. My husband took me to A&E and I felt every agonising bump all the way.
I was given morphine and sent away with Diazepam tablets, which helped relax me. Like you, I am not a wimp: I’m 54, have had two children, breast cancer, a mastectomy, chemotherapy, lost every hair on my body, recently had a triple heart bypass where my breast bone was cut open and is now held together with metal pins but, flipping heck Fiona, this pain knocked me for six!
I’ve seen campaigns to limit painkiller distribution, but, like you, I need them. Keep on telling it like it is, Fiona. Gina, via email
