SURVIVAL IS KEY TO KING STAY

- BY JAMES NURSEY

ANDY KING is desperate to help Swansea stay up as he aims to clinch a permanent move to the Liberty Stadium in the summer. The Swans took the Wales midfielder on loan from Leicester on deadline day. He has since made four appearances, scoring once, as Carlos Carvalhal’s team climbed to 14th. King won League One, Championship and Premier League titles with Leicester. But the Foxes will listen to offers of about £6million for their former trainee, who made 388 appearances for them. The 29-year-old said “I am really enjoying playing for Swansea. I will make a decision in the summer – that is what it will come down to. “My job for now is to try and keep Swansea in the Premier League. Hopefully I can do that and then we will see what happens after that.” The Swans want him permanently, with their central midfielder Ki Sung-yueng set to depart on a free. Crocked Leroy Fer could be out until Christmas and Sam Clucas has been moved out wide. But Swansea will not be able to afford to recruit King unless they are able to beat the drop. They have a tough trip to Manchester United today, but drew at Old Trafford last April as they earned 13 points from their final five matches to stay up. King added: “We have eight massive games. United away this weekend so it doesn’t really get much tougher than that. “But Swansea have pulled out some really big and good results at Old Trafford recently but we know it will be a tough game up there. “We are ready for that.”
